Why the Cook Islands is the Best Spot for a Wedding?

With impossibly blue lagoons and dazzling white sand beaches our islands offer the perfect romantic escape. Moonlit walks on soft silky sand, snorkeling in warm azure lagoons amongst a myriad of colorful fish, treks to deserted spots, sipping champagne at sunset – there’s simply no better place to say, ‘I do.’

The Cook Islands have a very relaxed policy that allows international citizens to marry legally. You can fly to the Cook Islands from North America on a Sunday, apply for your wedding license on Monday and spend three full days on our island before getting married here. Each bride and groom must bring their birth certificates (in English), their passports and provide any ‘decree absolute’ (divorce documents), if applicable.  For more information click here.

For some years now we have been finding ways to reduce our impact on our environment. Our efforts are a work in progress which has been recognized at the Air New Zealand Tourism Awards where we won the award for environmental initiatives! Here is a summary of what our resort has achieved and/or is trying to achieve to become more sustainable.

~ Guest Towels - option for guests to use more than once. Lowering use of laundry energy.
~ Solar power for hot water....we have solar panels for all rooms.
~ Sewage system  - our system is efficient and the grey water distributed thru garden sprinkler system.
~ Cooking oil for diesel......we are processing used cooking oils into fuel for our fleet of diesel vehicles.
~ Rubbish separation and recycling is practiced daily via our rubbish separation shed.
~ Biodegradable washing chemicals. These are used throughout the hotel.
~ Lagoon protection....we are supportive of the 'Raui' - banning the harvest of seafood from selected areas of the lagoon. We are involved with the
~ Marine Department in reseeding of corals and replanting of clam programs.
~ Low wattage lighting......we have invested in energy saving light bulbs throughout the property.
~ All exterior Security Lighting are on timers and sensors.
~ All offices encouraged to use/recycle used paper.
~ We have a paperless reservations system.
~ Lowered the usage of paper napkins by using cloth napkins only for selected meal periods.
~ We are 75% through our benchmarking process with Greenglobe.
